Virtual Private Server (VPS)
The VPS platform fills an important niche beyond standard web hosting. By nature, standard hosting is an environment of web sites sharing in the utilization of the processor, memory, and disk resources of the web server on which they reside. To maintain server performance and ensure all sites work properly, the utilization of resources can’t be dominated by a particular site. This is why hosting packages include account traffic parameters that result in overage charges which scale quickly and are meant to prompt the migration of busier sites to a semi-private hosting, virtual private server, or colocation environment.
In contrast, the VPS platform uses virtualization software to allocate hardware resources to each Virtual Private Server account provisioned. The finished product is a root level Unix login to the client’s very own Virtual Private Server which is ready to host web sites and applications.
Besides enjoying dedicated (non-shared) processor, memory, and disk resources, the virtualization software also isolates the underlying operating system and permits clients to install and operate any desired software.
We’re pleased to add this product to the lineup and have received a positive response already. For more information please review our Virtual Private Server quote and order form document.
