Getting
Disconnected? Getting Busy Signals?
Over the past six months,
a some of our modem dialup customers have complained about sporadic busy signals,
and dropped connections. We wanted to take this opportunity to let everyone
know that this is a documented problem that all ISP's in Louisville are having.
In fact, we have begun seeing the same problems in Lexington and Radcliff
as well. It seems that it occurs in specific geographic areas, at sporadic
times. What is causing this? Our theory is that there is overuse of the general
telephone network in certain service areas. But other than taking an educated
guess, we have yet to determine the exact problem. We can tell you this much:
BluegrassNet is NOT having busy signals. What seems to be going on is a telephone
company problem. It is a problem that results in your data being corrupted
as it crosses the telephone network to reach BluegrassNet. Our current suggestion,
is to hang up, wait 30 seconds and then try again. If the problem is recurring,
please call us immediately and file a "trouble ticket". This gives
our engineers the needed data to work with BellSouth, GTE, Hyperion, and ICG
to rectify the problem.
Thank you.
