Windows 95 Dialup Networking Setup

This is how you set up a Windows 95 or 98 computer to dial in to BluegrassNet so you can access the Internet:

Go the the 'Start' button, then 'Settings' , and then 'Control Panel' (as shown in figure 1):

Double-click on Modems in the control panel (as shown in figure 2):

Uncheck the box that says "Don't detect my modem; I will select from a list." Hopefully Windows will detect your modem. If it did, then go ahead and click the 'NEXT' button. If windows detected your modem correctly, it will be shown in the box at the top of the window. (proceed to step 6) If it says 'standard modem' in the box, you will have to select the modem brand yourself. (go to step 5) Click the 'Change' button. You will now need to search through the modem list to find your brand and model of modem that you have. If for some reason your modem is not listed, you can try one of the "standard modem types' at the top of the list. Now that we have the correct modem shown in the box above, click on the 'NEXT' button, and then click on the "FINISH' button. Click on the 'Properties' button. Now you need to select the COM port that your modem is on. If you have difficulties choosing the COM port, you might want to refer to your modems user manual.
